Punta Leona, Puntarenas<\/h1>\n

Punta Leona is not well known as a tourist point, but there is where its magic resides. It is a special place for those who are looking for peace, the beach is very quiet with almost no waves at all. Since most of the Punta Leona area is a National Wildlife Refuge, you’ll see just a few buildings and they are away from the beach. The rest of the zone is a jungle with huge importance for animal investigation, mostly birds and animals that can be spotted by lucky visitors if they are quiet enough.
\nThe forest is one of the few protected zones between the “transition area” a special area that is used to divide the dry tropical forest, typical from the northwest of the country, and the rain tropical forest that is common on the country’s south.<\/p>\n

For animal lovers, the refuge counts with trails for safe travel inside the forest, with a good camera and being quiet as possible you can spot some mammals like monkeys, coatis(a cousin of the raccoon), and armadillos for a good photo. Among 330 species of exotic birds find their home in Punta Leona like toucans, quetzals, parrots, and hummingbirds.
\nThere are guided tours to the refuge. Also, there are sport fishing tours, Punta Leona waters are rich in oxygen, something that attracts many species of big fishes like sailfish, the marlin, and the yellowfin tuna.
