Motorcycle rental · SJO airport and San José

Your bike is waiting for you
at the airport

You land in San José, pick up your bike and ride off: pickup at Juan Santamaría airport or at our workshop in Ciudad Colón, your choice.

Renting a bike at San José airport means your trip starts the moment you step off the plane. No taxi, no transfer to arrange: the bike is waiting for you, with its papers. Here's how renting works at Juan Santamaría airport (SJO) or at our workshop, what's included and what it costs.

Three ways to pick up your bike

  • At Juan Santamaría airport (SJO), near San José: we bring the bike to you when you land, so there's no transfer to arrange.
  • At our workshop in Ciudad Colón, west of San José, less than an hour's ride from the airport: briefing and bike setup on site.
  • Elsewhere in Costa Rica : your hotel, another town, a beach. We deliver and pick up anywhere in the country, quoted according to distance.

The pick-up point also depends on the model you choose: we confirm the exact place when you book. You can return the bike where you picked it up, or somewhere else: the form asks for both locations.

What's included in the rental

  • Unlimited mileage.
  • Mandatory bike insurance: third-party liability and medical costs.
  • 24/7 roadside support: one call, and we arrange the repair or a replacement bike.
  • A phone mount fitted on the bike and a rechargeable local SIM card.
  • The luggage rack and straps to tie down your things.

Full gear (helmet, gloves, jacket and rain gear) is optional, at $15 per day. Boots aren't provided: bring your own.

The minimum rental is 3 days. A security deposit of $800 per bike is taken as a card pre-authorization at pickup, and released in full if the bike comes back in the condition it left in.

How it works

  1. You send your booking request: dates, pickup and drop-off location, bike.
  2. We reply with availability and the exact amount. A 40 % deposit confirms the booking.
  3. On the day, we hand over the bike, its papers and a briefing, and set it up to fit you.
  4. The balance is paid on site, in cash or by card, with a 4 % fee for card payments.

Arrive the day before

After a long-haul flight and jet lag, you're not in the best shape to take a bike out on an unfamiliar road. If you can, arrive the day before: one night's sleep, and you pick up the bike the next morning, fresh and rested.

Before you set off, check that your license covers the bike you've chosen. Which license do you need to ride a motorcycle in Costa Rica?
